No one religion or branch of a religion overrides another, all beliefs are protected and equal whether religious or philosophical.
Employees are protected against discrimination because they have a religious faith or a philosophical belief, as well as because they do not.
Direct discrimination could include deciding not to hire an applicant because of their religion or refusing to develop or promote an employee because of their religion.
Treating a person unfavourably due to religious beliefs.
Excluding individuals from social activities based on being or not being of a certain faith.
The Equality Act 2010 says you must not be discriminated against because:
‘’Education will build respect, everyone can learn from different cultures and communities, and we aim to use this knowledge to improve our behaviour. We respect our colleagues whatever their religious beliefs and value the support they offer to our diverse business’’
